Rav Shoshana is a life-long spiritual seeker who has moved through trauma and grief to a place of healing and wholeness. While trained as a rabbi at the traditional Conservative Jewish Theological Seminary, Rav Shoshana’s soul finds its home in Jewish chanting and contemplative practices that invite the soul to breathe and connect to its God source. She is a regular meditator with Transcendental Meditation and an Applied Positive Psychology practitioner.

She has participated in many programs that explore the edges of Jewish practice including: Rabbi Shefa Gold’s Kol Zimra chant leadership program; Rabbis Without Borders and now serves on the Board of Directors for ALEPH: Alliance for Jewish Renewal. She is grateful to be included in Reclaiming Judaism’s “Adding Our Voices” project, whose objective is to include Women’s voices in liturgy and bring Shechinah into our everyday prayers. Rav Shoshana has just published her spiritual memoir, Stay in the Light: A Spiritual Memoir of Tools, Practices and Wisdom Stories for Healing and Wholeness.

ABOUT THE LEADERS

She is the Founding Director of The Lilith Institute (1997), a San Francisco Bay Area-based producer of women’s spirituality/study circles including Kol Ha-Ruach/Voice of the Spirit classes, public and private rituals and several lecture series. She served as Co-Director and later Chair of the former Women’s Spirituality MA Program, Institute of Transpersonal Psychology/Sofia University in Palo Alto, California, and was the founding priestess of Mishkan Shekhinah, a movable sanctuary honoring the Sacred Feminine in all spiritual traditions. Dr. Grenn’s dissertation, “For She Is a Tree of Life: Shared Roots Connecting Women to Deity” was an inquiry into Jewish women’s religious/cultural identities, beliefs and ritual practices among the South African Lemba and United States women.
